Scilla Nor
TM is an
emergency contraceptive pill that is useful after an unprotected
intercourse. Each tablet of the contraceptive medicine contains levonorgestrel bp 0.75 mg. The drug
prevents ovulation and is also known to prevent implantation. This emergency
contraceptive pill is found to be useful within 72 hours of an unprotected
intercourse. Scilla NorTM is not found to be helpful for already pregnant
women.
Dosage
Scilla Nor
TM is available in tablet form and can be taken
orally within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. The second dose is
required to be taken after 12 hours of the first dose. The results have
found to be highly effective in cases, where the drug has been taken as soon
as possible after intercourse.
Possible Side Effects
Some possible side effects after use of Scilla Nor
TM are
nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, menstrual changes and ectopic
pregnancy. The use of these contraceptive medicines may cause the menstrual bleeding to be irregular while
some may experience spotting a few days after taking Scilla - Nor. A
good percentage of women who used Scilla - NOR showed normal menstrual
cycle. A few percentage showed either more bleeding or less bleeding. If the
concerned women vomits within an hour of taking the prescribed dosage, she
should consult her doctor.
Precautions
Scilla Nor
TM is an emergency contraceptive pill and is not
recommended or administered for routine use. Before use, the concerned women
should consult doctor and inform him about any allergies or reactions
towards any particular drugs or medicines. Women who are suffering from
Diabetes, should be monitored while using the drug. Physical or pelvic
examination is recommended in woman who show any kind of concern over their
health or pregnancy after taking the drug. It is important to note that:
- Scilla - Nor is not indicated for use before menarche.
- The use of Scilla - Nor is not intended for geriatric patients.
- The drug doesn't protect against diseases such as HIV (AIDS) or STD
like other contraceptives .
